PROFILE
James Klewer provides forensic accounting services to attorneys & their
clients on a spectrum of financial disputes, both as a consultant & an
expert witness. He has participated in hundreds of litigation engagements,
& is experienced in providing expert testimony in depositions & at
trial. He has testified in U.S. District Court, Superior Court, arbitration
& mediation. James is a Certified Public Accountant / Certified in
Financial Forensics, a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Fraud
Specialist & a member of AAA's national roster of arbitrators.
Mr. Klewer is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he
earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (Accounting) in 1977.
After graduation, James joined the Sacramento office of Coopers & Lybrand.
His assignments included performing & managing audit engagements, as well
as some consulting & tax services. He served a diverse clientele that
ranged from small business to large corporations. James was selected to
participate in a national rotation program in 1980, where he worked in the
New York office of Coopers & Lybrand for a year. Mr. Klewer then became a
sole practitioner in 1983. He provided accounting & tax compliance
services, while undertaking graduate courses in taxation at Golden Gate
University.
In 1984 James joined the litigation services group of Arthur Young & Company
in Sacramento, transferring to their San Francisco office in 1987. As a
forensic accountant, he provided services to many law firms in California
& around the country. He was a member of the firm's National Construction
Industry committee & served as a nationwide resource for both construction
& litigation matters. In 1990 James began his own practice in forensic
accounting, initially as Klewer + Sullivan CPAs Inc., then as Klewer
Consulting.
Mr. Klewer has an extensive background in virtually all aspects of economic
damages analysis & presentation or rebuttal of claims. He has diverse
experience in several areas, including construction claims, real estate,
purchase price disputes, lost profits, fraud investigation, lender
liability, patent infringement, other business disputes & personal injury
matters.
